Workshop Day 2:

We will begin our day early in the morning, as the sun rises over the misty fields of Val d’Orcia. Our morning activity will be “villa hunting,” as there are many beautiful villas that complement the stunning landscape. Afterwards, we’ll return to our house for brunch and our first retouching session. For the sunset shoot, we’ll head to Bagno Vignoni, a village renowned for its hot springs. The day will end with a delicious dinner at a restaurant before we head back home.

On our third day, we’ll continue our villa hunting adventure in the morning, as there are so many beautiful villas to discover that one morning isn’t enough! Then, weather depending, we’ll drive to the rolling hills that have made Tuscany famous and witness the iconic cypress tree formations that stand majestically against the skyline.

After lunch at our house, you’ll learn about the magic of photo editing with Luminar Neo during another retouching session. As the sun sets, we’ll capture stunning photos at a tiny chapel nestled in the heart of a picturesque landscape. Our day will finish with a delightful dinner, either at a local restaurant or at our own house with great company.

Workshop Day 4:

Wednesday, May 8th, 2024

After two exciting days of villa hunting, it’s time to shift our focus to the charming medieval towns of Val d’Orcia and their picturesque surroundings. With so many stunning options to choose from, such as Montepulciano, we’ll embark on a street photography adventure while also exploring the endless vineyards surrounding the town. Later, we’ll return to our house for another retouching session, discussing and planning for our next sunset shoot.

Our morning session takes us to the charming town of Monticchiello, where we’ll capture the essence of this beautiful place through street photography. We’ll also try to explore the nearby zig-zag road, which is a famous landmark. After the shoot, we’ll head back to our house for lunch and start packing up for our departure the following day.

But before we say our goodbyes, we’ll make our way to Crete Senesi for a grand finale sunset shoot at one of Tuscany’s most iconic villas. On our way back, we’ll stop to enjoy dinner together and toast to the memories we’ve made.

Tuscany
Workshop Day 6:

Friday, May 10th, 2024

Today marks the bittersweet end of our unforgettable journey in Tuscany. However, before we bid farewell, we have one last opportunity to capture the enchanting villas amidst the mystical misty landscape. We’ll rise early in the morning, with only our camera equipment in hand, for a final adventure near our lodging. Afterward, we’ll return to the house, gather our belongings, and a driver will escort you to Florence airport.

Though our journey together may be ending, the memories we’ve made and the beauty we’ve captured will stay with us forever.

FAQ

  • Although I am known as Dronographer, this will not be a workshop on drone photography. Instead, we will focus on classic landscape and nature photography taken from the ground. Having 5-6 drones in the air at once could create chaos and therefore pose a risk to everyone involved. To avoid any potential legal issues for participants, I advise against bringing drones to the workshop.

  • The workshop is open to all, whether you are a beginner or advanced photographer. However, it is recommended that you are familiar with the basic functions of your camera, including adjusting the shutter speed, ISO, and aperture. While I will provide guidance on how to use these settings, it is important that you know how to change them on your camera.
In general, just make sure to bring the right gear for the workshop so that you can have fun and get the most out of it!

  • If you’re a couple, you are welcome to share a bedroom. The house has rooms with double beds available, but please note that there is no discount for sharing a bedroom. The costs for the workshop are still per person.

  • This workshop will be held in English, unless everybody is capable of speaking German. Italian isn’t necessary, but if you speak it, it will surely come in handy in restaurants 🙂

  • Yes. Please make sure to be 18 years old when the workshop starts.
